Scale Rulers

The whole idea behind creating scale drawings is to allow the drafter to create a drawing which is proportionately the same as the artifact it represents

Using a measuring device called a scale, we can create accurate drawings of both very large objects or very small objects and fit either on a standard size piece of paper

On this flat rule, there is a scale of 1:1 and 1:100

With a scale of 1:1, the drawing is an exact replica of the object, so 10mm on the paper relates to 10mm in Real Life

Using a scale of 1:100, 10mm on the paper relates to 1m or 1,000mm in Real Life. Why?

For every 1mm on the drawing, you get 100mm in RL

10mm x 100 = 1,000mm or 1 metre

The Phase Test for the English Bond measures 2240mm in the workshop. Using a scale of 1:100, what would be its length on a drawing?

There are also some other scales, shown up-side in the picture. Commonly, such rulers are 300mm long, so what are these scales?

The first one ends in 60m or 60,000mm

  300    =    3    =    1
60,000      600      200

So the scale is 1:200

What is the scale that ends in 6,000mm?
